Orton Grange Café

 Looking for somewhere to eat and relax in north Cumbria? Orton Grange Café could be the very place.
It was opened in August 2006 in a superbly converted sandstone barn, to add to the Orton Grange Farm Shop which is next door. Indeed, you can walk between the two. Many people arrive to visit the shop, and end up having lunch in the café. You can order and spend your time browsing until your food is ready.

The conversion was planned to be modern and stylish. And the glass and steel perfectly complement the original sandstone walls. The café is on two floors. Upstairs there are comfortable sofas and a grand piano and it's not unusual for people to spend all afternoon here. 		Cafe staff

Our food is simple and tasty. We do ploughman's lunches using the best quality cheese and ham, toasted sandwiches, home-made soup, quiches and cakes. Most are accompanied by chef's delicious salads. We have a range of drinks, both soft and alcoholic, as well as a range of Fairtrade teas and coffees.

And we shouldn't forget our own Orton Grange Ice Cream, made on the premises. If you haven't tried it, it's delicious! For more information click on the ice cream link near the top of this page.

We're really proud that following an inspection by environmental health officers from Carlisle City Council we have been awarded the top mark of 5 stars for our food hygiene standards. The scheme is known as "Scores on the Doors". And the results are available to the public via the council website.

Upstairs with sofas Orton Grange Café is open the same hours as the Farm Shop: 1000 to 1700 Mondays to Saturdays and 1100 to 1600 on Sundays and Bank Holidays. We close for two weeks from Christmas Eve. We've now installed WiFi for the complimentary use of guests. The system was installed by our IT partners S & C Computing
